Dayanivasa ( House of Love )

Progress has been made in this evolving project.  A neighboring property was acquired by the Sudaya Trust to build a cottage for this project specially in view of the growing call for the special needs young adult to live an independent monitored life. This project aims to support the growing demands of the parents of children “passing out’ from Supem Uyana, Dayamina and Caritas the Sisters have extended their service of the mentally challenged to initiate this monitored in-house living to young adults.

Dayanivasa is the first of such cottages where five to six young women live in with the Sisters and two staff members.   They lead an independent life supported by three staff members, a religious and two young “aunties” living with them.
This nascent project provides :

  • monitored residential service for independent living
  • Development and supervision of their work skills.
  • Greater involvement and responsibility for the extra activities in the Dayamina School.
  • Support for integration into the mainstream of life

Dayasevana ( A Haven of Love )

In continuing their service of love to the mentally challenged the Sisters of Charity have set up a Home for the mentally challenged Elders in Kegalle (along the Kandy road).  The project has been completed and it now houses five Mentally Challenged seniors. It was opened to them in March 2010.  We will appreciate your continuing support for the maintenance and daily running of Dayasevana as it takes in a greater percentage of low or no income individuals. It is hoped that twenty two male and female mentally challenged adults who can no longer take care of themselves will find a haven of rest here.

Dayasevana provides to the Special Needs Elderly:

  • Special medical and nursing support
  • recreational facilities
  • community interaction and integration opportunities with the young adults from the neighboring school
